We generally recommend total detailed survey on proposed developments less than 5 hectares in size. The standard techniques available to Clients are fluxgate gradiometry and electrical resistivity. These provide highly accurate and graphical data referenced to the National Grid, and detail location and extent of underlying remains within a given area.
In instances where the archaeology of a site may require more intensive survey due to landscaping or cultivation damage, sampling intervals may be increased to gain finer resolution of remains. Intensive sampling is not required for all geophysical investigations.
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and magnetic susceptibility surveys also form part of the Company’s detailed geophysical services. Please see the ‘Technical Information’ section on this website for further information on GPR, and contact us direct if you require magnetic susceptibility survey.
